Diane, yes you can. See the conversion page of the wiki for some ideas:
https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/E-book_conversion

The two most popular tools are Book Designer and lib2prs. Many people buy books in lit format and convert them. And UK residents can buy ebooks from Baen in Sony lrf format.

In the meantime, check out our own book upload section for some free public domain books for your Reader. (Click on Ebooks on the blue bar towards the top of this page.)

I'm in the UK too: Cardiff.

Hi Diane and welcome to the Forum.

If you lot would just start driving on the right side of the road, Sony would sell you all the books you want. Aw, I didn't think you'd fall for that one.

Okay, go to this thread in the Sony section of the Forum (https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21966). It covers the 505 being introduced into the UK

Meanwhile, once you get some books loaded up, be sure and let us know how you like the 505.

The sony is a great reader, I have it too. In addition to the wiki info on doing conversions there is a Wiki topic on eBook stores that sell Sony Formated stuff. Also sites that have public domain books in Sony format like manybooks.net.

Lets see if I can find the like to that:

Thankyou everyone. I am sorted now. Harry T picked up my message and helped me out with advice and which programms to use to convert. i am not a computer buff, but managed in the end, and now have books on there that I have found and converted myself, so I am dead chuffed with myself.

I love the Sony Reader, I think its a brilliant idea and I know it will be in daily use.

Thanks again

Diane
