Question Template Error during conversion

Hola!

Running Calibre V1.5 64bit

While doing multiple PDF to Epub and Mobi conversions, I get the following error on some documents:

Authors: Beth lastname
Formats: EPUB, PDF
Series: Book I of Acting
Path: Click to open
Formats: TEMPLATE ERROR can't downgrade SHLock object

I am not sure why I have two "Formats:" sections; they are there on all the book entries. And, not sure what causes the error. It looks like it might be a PDF-to-Mobi conversion error.

I have a couple hundred of these errors in this particular library. A few of them seem to have successfully converted, i.e. I show this entry:

Authors: Rachel lastname
Formats: EPUB, MOBI, PDF
Path: Click to open
Formats: TEMPLATE ERROR can't downgrade SHLock object

Anyone have any idea where that error might be coming from? And why I have two Formats lines

Sounds like a corrupt instal.
Uninstall (then locate the Calibre2 folder in "Program files" and delete that ONLY AFTER UNINSTALLING)

(also delete the old 1.5 MSI download)
and get a fresh copy and install that

You have two "Formats" because you created a custom column called formats. If you remove the custom column the top formats directly under Authors will remain.

This is most likely not a conversion error but a template error in the custom column or bug in the underlying code. Someone submitted a bug report with seemingly the same problem 4 days ago. You might want to review the bug report and contribute info to help resolve it.

I did the fresh install and restarted the conversion jobs last night. So far, that error message has not reappeared, tho the jobs will take another day or so.

And yes, I did create a custom column. There was no "Formats" default column available in the list, so I did add it. I have done this many times before; I just did not notice the 2 listings before, possibly due to my screen scaling, which hides the lower one unless I intentionally scroll further down.

Thanks for the replies; I will keep an eye on this and if the error message reappears, I will jump into the bug reporting thing.

Glad to see it is working.

The default formats (no column) shows in the Tag browser and at the top of the Book Details pane.
