Latest Disaster

The latest disaster I have is that I have turned on my Kindle today to find that some, and only some, of my 'collections are doubled up, some empty some containing files. Very difficult to ascertain which to keep and which to delete. There's now 49 pages to go through.

I wish they'd put collections into alphabetical order!

Any suggestions for a quick way to sort through this?

A Kindle won't change its collection files by itself . You haven't said what you "did" to your Kindle. Did you perhaps use the Kindle Collections plugin? Or are you using some PC based software?

The first step any time collections get changed is to restart your Kindle - Home -> Menu -> Settings -> Menu -> Restart. let the Kindle restart and then it still takes a few seconds after that to get the collection numbers updated.

Only once you have done that will you see exactly what the state of collections on your Kindle are.

And you can sort your collections alphabetically too...

You can sort them alphabetically? I thought you could only do that when you were moving a file into a collection.

Set your Kindle to "Sort by Title", and that is alphabetical. There are different sorts at collection level as well as inside a collection, so you can set them both to be the same or different.

I should add that i haven't seen any mention of calibre in anything you have posted so far - there is a forum here at MobileRead specifically for the Kindle which so far this thread would more appropriately belong in
