Get Ebooks ordered the way I like
I'd like to order the books in my list first by author, then title (even though the title column is in front of the author column). Author sort is fine, but book title order is out of alphabetical order, and/or books in a series are out of numerical order. Is there some abracadabra I must do? Or is it, as suspect, merely as simple of moving the columns around so the author column is ahead of the title? I've tried altering the metadata, but usually, there's no obvious metadata problem to contend with.

You need to do the sorts in reverse order. For instance sorting by title and then author will give you title within author.
You need to be aware that author and title are actually sorted by their associated sort fields rather the actual values in the fields. If you are getting the wrong results then it may be because of the way the sort fields are being derived. There are tweaks available to pick alternative logarithms. |

I think the sorting has been covered already, but there is a tweak for alphabetic sort or library sort Preferences>tweaks I think there is a tweak for how calibre sorts on startup as well. The view manager plugin allows you to set up custom views. The quality check plugin will tell you if your author_sort or title_sort are wrong. To get consistent sorting it is very important to have your author_sort consistent as this is what calibre uses to sort (by default anyway) the author column. Probably title_sort for title column. I was quite confuse by this at one time. The metadata to contend with is color coded pink in the edit individual metadata dialogue (for me anyway it is pink for bad, green for good). It is all easy once you have done it ![]() Helen Last edited by speakingtohe; 04-03-2012 at 04:32 PM. Reason: added |
