chapter navigation
My apologies if this has been answered before, but in the e-ink Kindles there is a five-way "mouse" that enables one to skip from one chapter to the next without using the table of contents. This is achieved by an NCX file in the Kindle book.
Does the Fire have this capability? Thanks! |

That is the BIG problem with the Fire. There is no Index file. Thus, dictionairies, encyclopedias and most bibles do not work properly.
The only exception is the Tecarta Bibles which do have everything indexed. There one can go to the next chapter by sweeping left and the previous chapter by sweeping right. One can get instantaeous locations of every word, phrase and verse in the Bible. That happens to be an Android App. |

+ 1. This is a basic function that SHOULD have been included in the Fire. Enhancements in the latest update are nice but I wish Amazon would eliminate all the social c**p and focus their attention on duplicating the features/functions of their e-ink readers.

Agreed. I'd like a better background color like gray than sepia. The Nook app has this. Chapter navigation would be nice too. I don't think they will put the brightness slider in the Kindle reader that the Android app has. I also wish they fixed sideloaded books to be add to shelves without restarting. Collections would be nice too.

I use Easton's Bible Dictionary and just typing the word once on the Kindle Keyboard got the definition. On the Fire one has to type it in and then hold a location where its listed in the eBook index and then tap on the word again.
Come on Amazon, give us back the automatic indexing of all books just like on the Kindle Keyboard. The result of all this is I have to use my NowBible for the Easton Bible Dictionary and the Tecarta Android Bible on the Kindle Fire - TWO devices where only one was required before. Plus, all this has made my Logos Android Bibles worthless at this moment in time along with my Osonva Bibles. Last edited by sirmaru; 03-31-2012 at 08:00 PM. |
