Update wont download

I have updated Calibre 2 times before with no problems but the latest version (0.8.31) will download to 100% then tell me the download was interupted and wont finish si I can install. I "retry" and the same thing happens. I really want this update for the plug-in options! Can anyone help?

Laptop? Connection = WiFi?
any: power settings allowing the system to Hibernate/Standby before the download completes.
Anti-Virus fixing the download. (Always have your A/V ask what to do. That way you always know it wants to do something.)

Havent changed antivirus setings since last download. All other downloads complete normally.

You've probably got a corrupted version in your browser's cache. Clear the cache and try again.

People seem to think that Anti-Virus detection is static.
Every update changes the way it can behave. That is how it stops things.
Settings only affect what is (mostly) already on your system. eg file and folder Exclusions

My antivirus always asks me already. The whole "This type of file can harm your computer" thing. I always give it the ok and it still doesnt work.

I am able to download anything but this update right now so I dont think my settings are the problem. I downloaded Dropbox just yesterday and ASUS web storage a few days ago with no problems.

Sorry, bu that message may only be a standard warning supplied by your browser (I get that on, then another, slightly different when I try and execute the file), and will happen even with you A/V disabled.

I seem to be having a similar problem too but with 0.8.32, my download stops at 99% (42.3 mb out of 42.8) and never completes.I don't get any security warnings when i start download nor when it gets stuck, it just sits at 99% perpetually. I've tried downloading from other sources (cnet etc) but still the same. I use mcafee so I've turned off firewall and real time scanning. disabled no script and ad block in firefox, cleared firefox cache. i use adsl broadband (landline) so no issue with wifi. laptop set to never hibernate or turn off automatically (connected to power socket anyway). I can download anything else on the net except this file . any solutions would be great. thanks

p.s - I use win 7 ultimate

You tried most things. All I can add is to not use a download manager. Try Internet Explorer, Chrome or Opera to shake things loose. Also download calibre from either calibre's site or sourceforge.

I don't use download managers, just the default firefox download, tried internet explorer and chrome too. I've even tried it on another laptop with vista and no anti virus/firewall, but it still gets stuck at 99%. I used the calibre website and sourceforge, thats why I tried cnet but no go. Last thing I can think of is my isp but that seems unlikely cause i can download anything else, really baffled. I wonder if it being a .msi file has anything to do with it?

I use FF (8) all the time (with the default Calibre location)
I have noticed that sometimes it takes a while for the last block to confirm (and finish the download).

Try changing the DNS on your router. Google DNS address is 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4


This will tell you if the problem is with your ISP's DNS Host.

If that does not work then boot to safe mode with network, download and run Malwarebytes (http://www.malwarebytes.org/) to check for root kits/viruses.

I doubt it but anything is possible. MSI is the standard Microsoft installer.
