Kobo not loading the book currently being read

My Kobo wifi will not load the book that i am 45% of the way through reading, it starts trying to load but after a few minutes trying to load it just freezes and i have to restart the entire reader but it will load any other book, it used to not show which book i was reading in the currently reading space but has stopped that and is now showing the book i am reading but will not load this one book, it also takes quite a while to load any other book and if i want to use the go to function to skip pages it will bring up the go to function and then freezes requiring me to once again restart the reader, this is the second kobo i have had as my first one had to be replaced as it had some hardware problem.
Any help would be appreciated.

There is probably something wrong with the ebook. Try reading it in some other way such as the Calibre viewer or ADE. Or delete it from the KT and then add it again.

Another reason for this to happen is if the database in the KT is out of synch with the ebook. What happens is that when a ebook is first put on the KT, it will process the ebook and create database entries for each chapter. As you read the ebook, the database will be updated to record the current place. If you replace the ebook with a new version, the database isn't updated. From what I have seen, if the new ebook has new chapters added at the end, it is OK except they won't be in the contents list. But, if a chapter is removed in the middle, it can cause the problem you are seeing. Deleting and re-adding the ebook should fix this.

I had not even looked at the book until i started to read it, so i gave up on that book and read a few others and then it did it again with another book so i factory reset the kobo and figured i could use the go to function to get back to y page in the book i was reading but the go to function just freezes on the screen, so i spent quite a while going through each page of the book to get to where i was and when i finally finished the book instead ogf closing the book and going back to the home page the kobo froze on the last page of the book and i had to plug it into my pc to get it to turn on again, it is also quite slow when turning pages.

Have to say i'm thinking about buying a different brand after all the trouble i seem to be having with this.

this sounds like a corrupted database and / or a corrupted eBook.

I had that problem. Opening a paticular book froze the reader every time I tried to open it. It would hang for a while, then freeze. I deleted it and reloaded from my library after that it worked fine, and worth the trouble!

i managed to get through one book after i factory reset and added them all again but the next book i was reading it froze and now it doesnt even register that it is plugged in to charge and doesnt come up with the keep reading or manage window
