Interface to Outlook from Linux

Folks,

I am new at this but need to get an answer.

I have a Nook 1st Edition

How do I interface with a Public Library that uses Outlook and requires Adobe Digital Editions(ADE) when ADE is not supported under Linux?

I tried Calibre, however, it does not have a way of registering with Outlook (required). I do not have any Windows software and do not want any.

Ideas?

Thanks,
Jay

I have ADE running under Wine in Linux. There are several threads on how to do this on Mobileread. Google and ye shall find...

Folks,

Thanks bearymore for the pointer about Wine...

I have installed wine and configured it. I installed ADE (Adobe Digital Editions) and it is running.

Now the problem...

When I attempt to download a book from my public library I am supposed to be automatically connected to ADE when I click on Download. Does not happen! What am I doing wrong? It instead opens the file itself with gedit, not good! Ideas?

Another problem my nook shows up under ADE as D:, however, none of the current entries show up under library. Why not? Do I need to to do something to make that happen?

You should assign the file type of the download to ADE via wine so that it opens automatically with ADE. Currently it is assigned to Gedit and that's why it opens up in a text editor. Download the file, right-click on it, select Properties, go to the Open With tab and select ADE from there. If it's not in the list, click the Add button and in the Use a custom command field write wine /path/to/your/ade.exe . Click OK and select the new entry from the list.
