My e-Ink has large dead spot ... any fix?

Anyone know of a fix for a large dead spot on the e-ink side? I seems that there is a two inch strip that goes down the middle (somewhat the to right) that does not register writing. Display works fine though (i.e. all of the display can display an image).

I'd guess that the digitizer is somehow disconnected at that point?

Didn't someone else have a problem like that a while back - can't remember if there was a fix or not.

Also have you tried recalibrating? If that doesn't help, is there a cable connection that has worked loose?

My experience of Wacom digitiser tablets is that they either work or not. If they don't then it is usually a cable connection or a problem with the power supply. Since yours partly works I would suspect the cable. There is the very remote chance that part of the control chip has died, but then again they usually die completely - we've only had one instance of that which Wacom fixed for our client.

This is a different PE. I have not done anything with that one as of yet. Worse case is that I hope I can switch digitizers between the machine with the broken power switch.

There was someone else with this problem -- I think he recalibrated a zillion times and kept getting a smaller and smaller dead space. It was an interesting discussion. I'll post it here if I can find the link.

Thanks for the link. I read it and will see if that does anything, but I think mine is a connectivity issue because the pen does not seem to register at all (cannot even bring up the menu for instance).

Do you have a screen protector on it? I was having trouble with my eink's responsiveness (had to press hard and/or many times to use menu items) which was fixed when I changed screen protectors. Now I just have a slight stickiness to contend with (XOskins) but one tap is all it takes on the icons again!

No screen protectors. I think my daughter may have been pressing too hard on it or something to that effect because it did work initially (i.e. all areas of screen responded to the pen). When I get my hands on it I'll take it apart to see if it is the connector.
