This question might get more responses in the Kobo subforum. I would also post it there. Does the Kobo take a micro usb cord that fits in another electronic? For instance, the micro usb cable for my cell phone also fits into my Sony Reader. Also, try turning it off and then turning it back on. Actually, I would try this first and then try another cable. HTH.

Yes, it takes another one. It recognizes my Sony cord, and standard cord for changing and another one from a disk.

Make sure you choose the "manage library" (or something like that) option when you power it up (connected to the computer)

Do you have another USB you can try? Just to see if it's the cable (i've used my blackberry USB cable) or the Kobo itself? Also here's the link to the Kobo forum, you may find someone else there with the same issue: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=223

1st thing I would try is a different USB port (either on that computer or preferably a different computer). If it isn't recognizing 2 different readers sounds like a computer hardware issue rather than the reader.
If that doesn't work/isn't possible, try a different USB cord to connect it. As previous poster said, make sure you click the MANAGE LIBRARY option rather than keep reading on the Kobo itself. Is the light in the top right (assuming this is a Kobo Wifi or top on Kobo Touch) lighting when you plug it in? If not then definitely sounds hardware and likely USB port on computer or the cord. Exactly what steps are doing to connect it and what is it saying? More details may give us a clue to other things you can try. |

When you plug in your Kobo you should get an option to connect or cancel. Your computer won't recognize your Kobo until you choose "connect". The "cancel" option is for when you want to keep reading while it's charging.
