Well, I had updated my sweet little eDge all the way to "AllMine" and then I moved everything to a 32 MG SD Card. Not wanting to use it this way after all, I decided to do a factory reset and update things again.
Bad idea. Now, no matter what or how I update, and it always says it is updating, from Factory Reset image to 1.6 to 2.2, I get a little Android man that says touch here to begin and when I do, nothing happens. I am trying not to panic or puke, but I am not sure what I have done and how to get back on track. Any ideas? I am wondering if I ever updated at all because it says "Welcome to Nexus One" every time. Has it always been a Nexus One or is that just the "ALLMINE" Build? Help, please! |

Did you use the golden update to revert to 1.6? If not check the https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=135544 thread to get the correct PE golden update and other threads on how to apply it.
This should get you back to Dingo 1.6, you can then update to Ermine from there. Last edited by ivanjt; 11-04-2011 at 06:38 PM. |

Golden Update
I did see that update, but I started with the Factory default. I will try the golden one, as I have several copies of each version and I may have chosen a different one.
I did try the hellbent version offered by the same guy, (name?) that created "allmine". It just kept restarting. Other installs say the are updating, but nothing happens really. Things move along and then in just two or three minutes it reboots back to the little Android Guy, welcoming me to Nexus One. So I am ready to try Golden, just to make sure. Here I go. |

As I said in the other thread, factory defaults only clears the user data so you have a 'clean' operating system. The special build is based on a phone version of Android 2.2 so going to factory defaults means you are trying to run a phone on your PE.
The only way to restore to ermine is to revert to dingo and then upgrade again. At some stage the very bright programmers on here may be able to get round that limitation but until then it's back to golden then up to ermine. |

OK, I tried the golden one and read the direction. My first mistake is, I did not Login to my account and opt out of the beta. Do you know what this is referring too. Is it an account on the eDGe? I can't get in. Is there a web site where I can make this change? The Google market?
I am getting ready to try thing again with a fresh download and a different USB, but I am not feeling it as a solution. I don't think I am formatting, I sure am not hanging so I can reset as stated in the instructions. Still just a few minutes and then back to the little Android guy. I am so confused. |

And I have tried again and again, and I simply cannot get past the little Android guy.
It is simply not accessing the USB drive long enough to do anything more than error out. "Golden" doesn't even display "updating"; it just keeps rebooting after the third dot is lit. My brain is fried for the night, but I am beginning to think my file system is F'd or something similar. Any way to do a low-level format or a way to get in and clean the system partition, etc. Perhaps reset the MBR? Any direction to move me forward would help. TIA! |

Quote:
I assume your not being able to use the golden update is because the version of Android you now have on your PE does not recognise the pressing of the two buttons as a signal to start the update process - hence your need to use the serial method. |

flyred, sorry for your troubles.
![]() Is your sd card out now? Just a little thought I had, leaving it in might cause problems at this stage. Sure hope you can get your eDGe back! ![]() |
