Kindle Sribe - Question about Formatting
Hello!
I've been lurking for many years on this forum. Been a while since I posted. My first ebook reader was one of those RCA green screen ebook readers. So much has changed since then. Anyhow, I'm here to ask for some help with my Kindle Scribe 1st Generation (jailbroken). I enjoy reading in Landscape mode with two columns. For some reason, none of my sideloaded books (with Calibre) work with that feature. Only books I purchase from Amazon will work with that 2 column landscape view. Is there anything I can do or install to make that work with my sideloaded books? Thanks for any information! |

You must be doing something wrong on your end. Sideloaded books worked in two column mode since day one in its native reader. First make sure you're doing everything right in the user interface, then fool around with different formats of sideloaded books.

Interesting. After fooling around with the interface (in the native reader), the feature is ghosted out and says "not available" for me. These were converted to the Kindle format when copied over from Calibre. Should I be doing it differently?

Are you in landscape mode when it's greyed out? If you are, then try converting your book into different format in calibre. I can't quite remember if it works on .mobi and .azw, but it certainly works in .kfx format.

I think the Scribe native reader needs KFX for 2 column, but I think koreader supports 2 column for EPUB. koreader doesn't support KF8/azw3 or KFX.

You were both right. I converted it to KFX format and now the layouts are all there and functional. Thanks!
