Adobe
I just received the following error on my PE:
"Please activate the eDGe with Adobe via Settings menu" I've gone into the Settings menu and have looked everywhere for where I would activate Adobe. I have downloaded the Adobe Reader from the market. Anyone out there that can help?? Thank you! |

Thank you, 'obsessed2', but I am still having issues and I just might be missing an obvious step.
My computer recognizes the file when I open it in the 'Adobe Digital Editions' program (the file is residing on a flash drive), but when I connect the flash drive to my PE and attempt to add it to my PE, I get the following: "E_AUTH_BAD_DEVICE_KEY". What am I missing? It's probably right in front of me, but I am completely missing it. ![]() |

Hey dprysatj - in order to authorize it for use on your PE, you're going to have to plug the PE into your computer - not by taking the file from a flash drive to your PE.
The only way it's going to work is if the Adobe software on your PC authorizes the device since the on-device registration isn't going to work. Step 1 of the post that Obsessed2 linked to is Code:
1. Connect the eDGe to a PC, MAC, or Linux-based PC using the mini-USB cable. |

I did exactly that and tried to find within the program where I authorize my PE within the Adobe program, but it only seems to be authorizing my computer, not the PE.
How then do I get books downloaded onto my PE after I have figured out how to authorize it? (already a looooonnnnnng week for me) Last edited by dprystaj; 09-27-2011 at 12:06 PM. |

When you open Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) on your PC does the eDGe show up under All Items? Once the PE is connected to the PC and you open ADE it should detect it and offer to authorize it with your Adobe ID. After DRM is authorized on the eDGe you can get books directly from Barnes and Noble, Kobo, Google e-books etc.

Okay - so I am not COMPLETELY braindead - just sort of....
I was able to successfully use the ADE to copy the book from the computer to the PE, but it isn't in my Library where I see all my other books. But when I click on and open the PE from the ADE window, it shows that it is there. I guess I need a lesson on file structure within the PE. I tried to search for the file, but it just "sits" there and does nothing. I also notice when I open the PE in the ADE window that some of the documents I thought I didn't save are there, as well. Thank you so much for all the help you have given me so far! I was so close to sending this thing back before I found this 'forum' and the help from Woot. ![]() UPDATE! Brain is alive again! Once I removed the device from my computer, I found the files. I had completely forgotten that when the PE is connected to the computer, access to the internal storage goes away. Once that comes back, the files are back, as well. I was then able to save the book to my library for easy access. Last edited by dprystaj; 09-27-2011 at 04:22 PM. |

There's a big difference between being brain dead and learning. I think you are definitely doing the latter (we all did) and you will do fine once you learn your way around the eDGe. There's a lot to learn and I'm still learning everyday thanks to all the great people on this forum. Glad to hear you got it to work. Enjoy. Last edited by obsessed2; 09-27-2011 at 08:27 PM. |
