Problems with Kobo and Dropbox

Hello. I’m trying out the Dropbox thing with my Kobo Forma. I have downloaded Dropbox on my PC, iphone, and iPad. I have moved books from Calibre (on my PC) to Dropbox without a problem. I can read the books on my Kobo with no trouble (perfectly formatted). However, when I try to read them within Dropbox on my phone or iPad, there are all these weird characters and symbols all over the place making it impossible to read, and it does not sync to last page read. If I export the book from Dropbox to iBooks, there is no problem. I suspect this has something to do with why it is not syncing to the last page read, which is kind of the point of the whole thing isn’t it? Any thoughts on how I might correct this issue?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

There's no in-book synchronization with the Forma's Dropbox feature (it's basically just wireless sideloading). What made you think so?

I also suspect the iOS/Android Dropbox app doesn't know how to handle (K)ePubs, although I can't vouch for that, as I rarely use said app.

Dropbox isn’t meant to open ebooks just to pass them along to whatever app you have that does.

Oh, my mistake. I thought that it was supposed to do both. The only reason I was trying it was for the syncing while reading. In that case, I don’t need it at all. I will be dumping it. Not worth my time. Thank you for the clarification.
