Hi from a newbie
Hi All,

After much deliberation, I have just ordered my first e-reader, a Kindle... and am impatiently waiting for it to arrive. To be honest, the choices were all a bit baffling, especially owing to the fact that in Australia the options are a bit limited. My decision to get a Kindle was based on a combination of value for money and good reviews.... I hope I made the right decision! I actually had my eye on a Sony Touch 650, but the availability in Aus is almost non-existant and the price was so high!!!
I'm only just getting back into reading again as I have 3 young kids and time is really a premium, but I figure this is a long term investment, and we do do a lot of travel - can't take too many books in 20 kg of luggage.
I will probably only post questions when I can't find the answers in the existing threads.... so hopefully I won't bug everyone with topics that have been regurgitated a hundred times already.

That's it from me... now all I have to do is wait for my new toy to arrive!

G'Day Bootik and welcome to MobileRead. You'll find an eBook reader a real joy to travel with. Sitting on a plane with your entire book collection in your hands is a real treat. In fact, I was on a flight here in the US and the plane had wifi and I was able to download a book from a public library.

Good to have your company, Boot. You can use your Kindle well in Oz, especially if you download the free Calibre Library software thousands of us here and more than million others swear by (http://www.calibre-ebook.com). Using that multi-facility software, tou can buy books from anywhere and, ehn not DRM-locked instantly convert to Mobi format to easily upload to your Kindle.
