Reading Wikipedia on Kindle?
Does this work on 3G or on WiFi or both?
Also, has anyone any input on whether this works well or is buggy? Thanks |

Works pretty good, as fast as your connection.

Works like a charm on both. Small of course, but to be enlarged or read in landscape.

Works fine.
If you have a 3G Kindle then it will work via 3G or WiFi. If you don't then it will only work via WiFi. Some countries have restrictions on free web access via 3G but I believe they still allow you to use Wikipedia even if you can't access any other sites apart from the Kindle store via 3G. |

You may also want to try:
wapedia.mobi This is the mobile site for Wikipedia and I prefer it to the full site for browsing on the Kindle. Although the full site for Wikipedia works fine, I just find the mobile site faster and easier to read. |

The k3's Article Mode works really well with Wikipedia as well.

Thanks guys. Nook blocks you from any browsing using 3G other than their site and I don't have WiFi. That kind if clinches the version of Kindle I'll be getting.
Correct me if I mis-read, but according to the above feedback, I should, in the USA, be able to get Wikipedia on 3G. Thanks |

If you're in the US and have a US account then you'll get free 3G web access to everywhere. It isn't restricted at all.

I've created a website that formats Wikipedia pages specifically for Kindle 3. I hope you'll find it useful.

I'm not sure what you are after, but if you are reading a book, you need to access the menu, go to experimental, go to web browser, and enter the URL or bookmark. When you are done, hit home, and open your book again, assuming you sorted by most recent, and start up where you left off.
It is not what I would call fast and I usually use dial up. But it is not too bad. |

Basically I would say it's for "emergency use" only. Not terrible, but slow and awkward.
But it works ![]() |
