Can't register. Network error code 9

I tried to go to the store to get apps. It said I had to register first. Then when I tried to register (typed in all the info) it tells me "network connection error code 9". I have tried several times and get the same (non) result. What do I do? This thing is worthless if I can't download apps or books.

Which store are you trying to connect to? If it is the Entourage store it's not surprising - it closed when Entourage did.

I have no problems with downloading books and apps from other places, either directly to my EE or indirectly via my computer. If you look through the threads you will find many places listed for getting books and apps and, if you are in the US there is the Amazon store available to you.

I just clicked on the store or shopping app. Would be fine if after clicking that, it said can't connect because store doesn't exist. Instead it says you can't shop because you haven't registered, please register now. Fill out this info, read EULA, then click register.... Oops you can't register, network error try again. I tried the android app store, but it wouldn't let me download anything because the device isn't registered, and oops can't register network error 9, try again. I'm done for the night. I will look through some more things tomorrow, but due to all the time I've already wasted, and other buggy elements (browser not going sometimes, keys typing in wrong (p instead of delete), unless some miracle happens, it's likely I will be returning it. Nice idea, but it hasn't followed through.

No panic or angry, Xandros. there are enough other places where you can download apps. Entourage is closed, doesn't exist anymore. So look around on this forum and you will see all the possibilities you've got left.

your eDGe is far from worthless. It's the owner who gives it it's value.

You can get apps from a number of sources. If you are in the US, the Amazon Appstore is good. Freewarelovers.com is a good site. Check the sticky Resources thread above for lots more suggestions. This is a great device; hope you don't give up!

I can't download books from amazon. It wants to send them to my phone. I didn't say the device was worthless, so much as it is worthless to me if I can't download apps (okay able to do that now) or books (still can't). I use my electronic devices for time savers. I wasted the better part of the first day on trying to register the device. I have only gotten back to the forums and working on the edge again now, because I have been too busy trying to get caught up on the work I put off that day. If I have to download to other devices and transfer to the edge, then it is more of a time waster than a time saver for me. I am sure it can be a great device if I want to spend a lot of time fiddling with it, or made great by an owner that wants to. I don't have a lot of time to mess with it. Like I said, I need a time saver. I will spend a little more time with it trying to figure out how to get books to go there instead of my phone, but not much more.

I'm (very impatiently) awaiting my order from 1saleaday.com. I sure hope I don't end up as one of the screwed over customers... I should have ordered this from Woot! last month!!

I don't know why you are having trouble downloading the Kindle app. It works fine on my Pocket eDGe. And if you are talking about Kindle books going to your phone instead, once you have the Kindle app installed you just tap the center of the app and all your Kindle books will be available to you -- or at least that's how it works for me.

Did you root your PE? (Trying to figure out why you can't download Kindle.) Or is it the newer Kindle app, which I believe has some problems -- where did I read that? Might have been in the Android section, or in Appazonia.

Yup, Appazonia. Check the info here: http://www.appazonia.com/, Nate the Great includes a link for the older Kindle app, in case that's what you need.

Filark, Thanks for the link to the old Kindle app. That was indeed the problem. I had tried downloading the kindle app from the amazon site with no luck (kept saying it was incompatible), then from the amazon appstore app, again with nothing but problems. The one from the link you provided worked perfectly though. Now I have the device I wanted and needed all along. All is good again! Thanks!

I've been reading this forum for the past week, scouring for information (and overloading my poor little non-techie brain) on what to do with my PE once I get it in my hot little hands. Of course, I am praying to any $DEITY that will listen, that I will get it before Friday so I can take it with me on a trip.

I see so many things I can do to increase the versatility of the PE, I'm excited to try!
