It just continues to be a pity that those of us outside the US of A who would like to have onboard Chess, Scrabble and many of the other games are STILL not catered for by Amazon (or indeed other developers?), 'for copyright reasons'. No games unless you're American!

How about some kind philanthropic soul out there producing a freeware Kindle Chess (or Scrabble) application as a service to the worldwide Kindle community?

I don't know, but these games are playable anywhere on your Kindle.

Yes but you need to be connected to do so. Many of us take our Kindles where the hand of man has never set foot (....) and there's no signal, so ideally we would want what Americans get: onboard standalone games.

Why, of all the things I'd like to ask of someone who spends time with a Kindle in the African bush, is that the question I choose to post, I do not rightly know, but I did, and I'm sticking with it.

Oh, back on topic. I'll take a look at some of these chess games. Since teaching my 8 year old to play chess recently, I was a bit disturbed to find out that he could give me a run for my money. Not because he's any kind of chess prodigy, but because I apparently have not improved since I learned at his age....so having these master games to check out when I'm out with the Kindle might be worthy of a bookmark. A bit of interactive diversion when i get tired of reading "Chess for Dummies."
