operating observations and questions after a few days

Sony pocket edition

I have put into italics technical language

1. portrait (up and down) rather than landscape (sideways) orientation works better for page turning.

2. Direction of page finger page turning is counter intuitive (feels unnatural) in landscape mode. I was surprised to see that in landscape mode one flips one's finger as if the device is still held on portrait mode.

3. If you wear reading glasses, any font size less than M or even L might be impractical except for looking at full page layout, seeing the number os screen scribbling you might have made, etc. Instead of XS (what a joke of uselessness) and even S, I would like to see subtler options between L and XXL. I don't know if tis is customizable.

4. Zoom - seems useless for epub books. Why would want to zoom? Perhaps this is for PDFs.

5. Security settings - Settings ->initialization-> (in geek-speak arrws such as these mean going deeper within folders or menus) I find both 'clear keyboard history' and 'format internal memory'. I presume clear keyboard memory would be like 'clear cache' in a computer. But I didn't see any 'yes/no/sure you want to do this?' in clear keyboard history, so certainly didn't look closer at 'format internal memory'.

In systems management (also under settings) I see 'device lock' if one wants a password. I expect this will thwart the Fire Department but not INTERPOL. User gudei advises 'If you forget your password, contact your SONY Customer Support.' Hmmm, I can see pros and cons to tis. Can just anybody call and get your password? How about an ex-lover who feels jilted or an envious ex-boss? Oh, and doing so erases all data! Maybe this is good all considered.

Also, switching font size seems to have a weird effect on highlighting - appears, disappears, go back a page and return, appears. Maybe my unit was a reject.

One feature I really liked about it and am greaving for, was the ability due to sensible design, to read with one hand on the bus.
