I normally never post to forums but I wanted to say thanks to Entourage for making a great product. I just received my Edge from CDW. I have to say i am very pleased. I was a little concerned by all the reviews.
Some said it was big and ugly. Fear starting to build up. I have to disagree here. Being in IT for some time, I remember the old laptops. Especially lugging around 2 to 3 huge tech books back and forth from the train station to the office. I had to carry a separate bag for the books and one for my laptop and misc gear. Others said that writing to the journal side was a little slow. Even more fear building up. There is a slight lag, but my writing was smoother and more legible then when I try to freehand on Onenote. I'm used to using a Wacom drawing tablet. Maybe that's why it doesn't seem so bad to me. I'm not too upset about the version of android. Obviously, being a tech guy, I want the latest and greatest. But I also have a Samsung Galaxy, that I carry around everywhere and an iphone(just for making calls). I use the Galaxy as a hotspot for my Edge. My primary use for the edge is to replace the notebook pads I have lying around. I spend a lot of time developing ,troubleshooting things and brainstorming. I find it easier to do that with a pen or pencil. This will definitely fulfill that role. I hate sitting at a desk staring at tech manuals on the computer screen, it's just feels uncomfortable and I can't mark it up. This way, I can recline at my desk or on the couch. It's also no fun jumping back and forth between diagrams, code samples and references on a small screen. Zooming in and out. Cost versus benefit just isn't there. I usually just give up and print out the pages I need from my desktop and grab a pen or pencil. Anyway, I just wanted to say thanks to Entourage and to the forum members for posting all the helpful tips. Please keep up development on the Edge. I will definitely buy the next model. Even if it comes out next month ![]() ![]() |

Your experience is representative with respect to reviews. People that own and actually use an eDGe tend to like it just fine, while reviewers who are only reviewing it because someone shoved it into their hands tend not to like it.

Mine is primarily a notebook (or pad of paper) replacement, too. Every time I write on it I'm reminded of how much I love not using spiral bound journals, 3 ring binders etc. My tablet PCs could do more, but just having the dedicated journal page while other stuff is going on on the other screen never gets old... especially not for 20-25% of the price.

The Edge is great for what it is intended to be used for (ex. if you are in the target market.) Consequently, I plan on keeping mine for 2-3 before I upgrade because, as far as I am concerned, it is functional and fits my needs. If you are simply someone looking for an iPad or laptop replacement you probably won't be happy with it. However, if you are looking at reading, annotating, note taking, schooling, professional uses, etc., it will be great for your needs.

My son asked me if I still like my new "toy", or has the novelty worn off. I told him that on the contrary I love my EE more everyday, and everyday it reveals a new way for me to use it. I do find it a bit heavy though.
