(Kindle)Harvard Classics Shelf of Fiction for $2.99
It looks interesting though I don't know how fast a person can get through a file some 12 mb in size on the Kindle.

We have that right here on Mobile Read. Individual books, mind you, but free.

We also have it here in three zip files:
https://www.mobileread.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22328 The Amazon item is all fiction. The MR collection is a lot of non fiction as well, and is several times larger than Amazon's 12 MB. Is the amazon thing a subset, or a different collection? Last edited by ApK; 05-27-2011 at 09:32 PM. |

Those are the Harvard Classics. These are the Shelf of Fiction which is a companion set of books. While we do have some of the Shelf of Fiction here at MR I am not so sure we have all of them.
Both are listed here. First the Classics then the Shelf of Fiction below that. http://www.bartleby.com/hc/ |

The history of Tom Jones?
Is that a very rare book? Answer: It's not unusual. Last edited by ApK; 06-08-2011 at 02:34 PM. Reason: Never a comedian around when you want one. |

Interesting. I didn't realize we had so many of the Shelf of Fiction books here already. Either way probably has some pros and cons though I imagine. I have no idea how well the links (I assume there are some) in the Amazon version work and I assume at some 12 mb it might take a little longer to download to Kindle than the average book which is in a lot of cases under 1 mb in size. On the other hand you are supposed to get all the books/stories in one file so you don't have to search the whole Kindle to find them. And that's a lot of books for just $2.99 as well. I downloaded the sample to my Kindle (haven't opened it yet) so I can't say which (the pros or cons) is better at the moment.

ATDrake,
![]() ![]() I was wondering if it was worth getting as I already have some of the works on there, and there's also more than a few I'm not interested in reading. The links you provided are very helpful; thanks for the hard work - it's appreciated ![]() |

The sample seems to be comprised solely of the 1st book, Tom Jones, which makes sense I guess since it is a very long book.
