I thought the 3.1 software update gave us page numbers?
One book I read now displays page numbers, while another book, a lonely planet travel guide still does not.
Is the display of page # still book dependent? or should the 3.1 software update have enabled page # on all books? |

What I find weird is that now only percentage shows, as opposed to before, when you had both locations and percentage. Now I have to press 'Menu' to see the locations. Makes no sense, locations are much better than just percentage, a book with >500 pages has a lot of "page-turns" per 1%. Why did they change that?

You'd probably have to do a mobi to mobi conversion for the page number support to be added. I'm not sure if sending via email will transfer the necessary files for page numbering. But with USB transfers, just make sure the Kindle device interface plugin is configured to deal with the page numbering files.

Perhaps that is the difference. I only connect with USB when I need to send a file too large to email. Ah well, it's not that big a deal to me one way or the other.

For some reason you will only get the page numbers through Calibre if you transfer it via USB....

All I can say is try emailing that kindle feedback and complain about the missing locations, and maybe they will change it back. |

Better yet, maybe they'll give us a software option how we'd like to see the display.

The page numbers are in a .apnx file. calibre doesn't email this, and probably Amazon will not deliver it as an email attachment even if it did, but if you transfer over USB it will copy it there. And of course if you are using Kindle browser to download you won't be able to download the .apnx that way, either.
