Booting from sd card and ereaders--help
I’m using an sd card 8gb class 10 to load honeycomb. How does one side load ebooks to an e reader on the sd card? I assume that all things android are saved to the boot sector? I really just want to experiment, but I like honeycomb, and would like to try readers on the android platform. I have no trouble downloading from b&n and amazon from my libraries at their sites to their e readers, but I would like to use other e readers. Secondly, if rooted and changed to another android platform, do e books load to the memory of the "new" nook well?
Thanks much! |

http://www.fjsoft.at/en/ No, only the kernel goes there in most builds. The SD card is usual partitioned into four parts, with only the boot partition and SD partition being FAT and FAT32 partitions. The system and data partitions are EXT3 or other Linux type partitions. |

In gingerbread, and I would assume honeycomb as well, when you plug the NC into a computer a "USB Connected" item shows up in the notifications. You can tap on that and have it connect a drive on the computer. In CM7 this defaults to the internal memory, which is nice because then you can access the same books whether booted from the SD card or internal memory.

I had a similar issue when booting from CyanogenMod 7 off my 16 Gb SD Card - and I tried Easus Partition Manager but the instructions over on XDA are sketchy at best.
Best method I've found is via WiFi File Explorer (in market). It allows you to upload files over WiFi either to your SD Card (as well as make new directories, etc) or to the Nook Color internal emmc - give it a try (must be rooted). You can also transfer files to the internal emmc [there's about 5 Gb free) via USB but it's painfully slow. |

How Do I Get The Unused Space Back
So I successfully made an SD Card w/CyanogenMod7 and can boot into it (while preserving my NookColor as factory-new). I have not been able to figure out how to reclaim some of the space on the SD Card so that Windows can see it - any help will be appreciated.

Use easus partition manager on a pc. Run as an admim for win 7. Drag the /sdcard partition slider button all the way to the right. Hit apply changes.
Good luck. Dave |

Set up CM7 Bluetooth according to the referenced instructions in your earlier post and lo and behold - it connected to my BT LG-700 Stereo Headset. Somewhat directional and probably only good for about two feet or so but I WORKS!!! |

For an easy way to move small files (like ebooks) to your system, may I suggest Dropbox?
You set it up on your desktop computer and on your NC, and then you put your ebooks into your dropbox folder that is created on your desktop computer. You then run the dropbox app on the NC, and you can see an index of the files/folders on your desktop. You can then download any of those files to your NC. They will be saved in the Dropbox folder, on my NC which is on my internal memory, this is on the root directory of my SD card. On a NC running off the SD card, I'm not sure where the dropbox directory will be created. But you should be able to use a file explorer like Astro to find the directory, and then the books you downloaded in the dropbox directory. One note - I use Aldiko as my default reader, and when I download the books using dropbox, it will automatically open Aldiko and being reading, BUT if I exit out of Aldiko, Aldiko will "forget" the book. If I manually move the file to the aldiko directory, or have Aldiko scan the dropbox directory, then it will be in Aldiko permanently. I actually have my Calibre library on my desktop setup INSIDE my dropbox folder - that way ALL of my calibre books are easily available on my NC ... |
