B&N is selling the Nook Color for $200 through their ebay portal today. You can get 3% CB making it $194 + tax.

How do you get 3% CB on an ebay auction ?

Just academic interest now, since I pulled the trigger, since B&N auctions sell out, and over 3,000 sold so far.

Fatwallet has 1% cash back and my credit card gives an additional 1% cash back, so that is plenty with the $50 coupon and free shipping...

Seems they raised the number available to 12000 in addition to the number they've already sold. What happened to the NC shortage from 2 weeks ago? Looks like they are trying to blow these out. Is there a Nook Color 2 coming soon?

The first Nook Color is barely a few months old.

It looks to me more to be a case of trying to get market share.

Someone noticed that the coupon is extended until the iPad 2 announcement.

So it is more a case of "iPad 2" coming soon than "Nook Color 2" coming soon.

BN clearly thinks that after March 3rd, the usual media avalanche will put people's attention on the iPad 2.

There's also an article going around where Amazon tried a test program where they gave paid in full Prime members a free Kindle. Supposedly you also had the option of getting a refund and keeping the Kindle if you didn't like Prime.

It's a bit premature to say this is why B&N would act now on this, it's much more likely due to the iPad2.

Strange. Some people have reported that the Nook Colors they got from this ebay deal aren't new. They aren't even refurbs but used. The ad clearly states they are new. Many have exchanged them for new ones at B&N stores even though the ebay ad says it can't be returned instore.

So the big question is why is B&N sending out used units as new?

Where did you see this? My "new" Nook Color will not activate with Adobe Digital Editions and it says "already registered."

Update: I can see my Adobe Digital Editions books from the Sony store. The "already registered' message may have been me pressing the button because of the slow response.

It's all over the nook forums. And people from Australia also ordered through this offer and expect delivery next week and are panicking because postage to send it back is around $40!

I bought mine with the ebay deal and just received it today. It was brand new. Or if it wasn't then they did a darn good job repackaging it and resetting the software.
