Rooted Nook Color Won't Read SD Card

First off, I'm sorry for the lack of information. I don't know where to start. I'm leaving for vacation tomorrow and tonight the Nook decides to take a dive. I'm frantic as I can't imagine a 2-week vacation without an e-reader.

Suddenly the Nook won't recognize my SD card. All my books are there. I tried putting a new one in, but it won't see that either.

More than that is wrong as I can't get to the home screen. When I push the Home button the soft keys menu comes up but the home icon doesn't work. The only one that does is the x for close button.

Any suggestions welcome as I'm at my wit's end here.

Nobody?

I fixed the SD card issue by re-formatting, but still can't get to the home screen.

And calibre can't find the nook so I can't re-add my books!

Help please! I get on a plane tonight.

Anyone? I'm begging for suggestions. Is there a way to "reset" the Nook or something. I've been googling and stayed up half the night for this. I am at my wit's end!

I'm far from an expert, and, without knowing a lot more, I'd hate to guess. Do you have a bootable SD with CWM on it? Maybe try to boot into CWM and redo the root.

Depending on how you did the original OS modifications, you may be able to revert back to stock using the 8 failed boot method - keep cycling the power a minimum of 8 times.

This is seriously beyond my knowledge. I rooted the Nook when I get it a long time ago by following the step by step directions.

It has mainly worked fine ever since, until now. I don't even know what CWM is.

I once tried to do that 8 failed boot thing, but it is impossible! You always miss and have to start over.

Well I finally managed the 8 failed reboot by just never letting go of the button.

And miracle of miracles not only did it fix the home page problem, it also left my Nook rooted. Thank goodness because I am addicted to Cool Reader.

Calibre thinks the SD card is the main memory and doesn't see the main memory at all, but I"m not complaining, since I can read my books and get them on there.
