Orientation on Nook Color, Which File Formats?

I just upgraded from the nook to to the nook color which is great but I do have a question. Regarding the orientation feature, is it supposed to work with all file formats? I believe I read where it won't work for certain types of children's books but with my unit it didn't work with any of the 4-5 books I tried using it with. It will work with the web browser but that's it. That's my only concern for now, otherwise the nook color is great, it's so much easier to use and has so many more features than are the original.

Thanks in advance for any info you can provide!

The EPUB reader only works in portrait mode, you can't rotate to landscape. Children books seem to be landscape only, though I only have the 2 samples it came with.

PDFs can be viewed both landscape and portrait.

If the EPUB doesn't have DRM, the FBReader software works in both portrait & landscape modes. It's my prefered reader. You will need to root the NC in order to install it though.

That's one of the reasons why I'm glad I rooted my Nook Color. I really like the hardware, but I don't like the default reading software. I generally use either Aldiko or Kindle (love the brightness control on Aldiko), both of which support both landscape and using the volume buttons for page turns.

I find landscape so much easier for reading in bed.
