Difference between 300 and 212 ppi

Hi , i am planning to buy a new ereader , i would like to buy a kobo , either
Kobo Aura or Kobo H2O second edition .

I just wonder if there is a big difference between 212ppi and 300ppi ( i got a kindle oasis 2) .

I know if we compare the two resolutions it would be obvious which is better but , what i would like to ask if 212 ppi is readable without any eye strain .

The H20 is not 300dpi. It's 265DPI. But you won't see any difference between 265DPI and 300DPI.

I went with the H2O. The larger screen size is very nice. I have the original H2O and I really like having the larger screen.

It truly depends on who you ask. For some it's a noticeable difference and for others not. Some that can see the difference say it doesn't make a difference when they're actually reading, others say it does.

"Eyestrain" can have many contributing factors (screen quality, lighting, reading duration, overall reading environment...) and again can vary wildly from person to person.

Are there any shops available where you can go "hands on" and see what the differences might mean for you?

Here is a *very* big picture of the Aura 2 next to the Kindle Voyage (from a French review) so you can see the text clearly next to an ereader you know https://img.purch.com/o/aHR0cDovL21l...N0dXJlLmpwZw==

If you are fussy about text sharpness, you'll notice a loss of quality compared to the 300 dpi that you are used to, but I doubt the 212 dpi would give any eye strain.

One thing I would say is that I find the Aura 2 looks notably better after a full screen refresh whereas the difference is not quite so notable on the H2O 2 as that keeps the text looking better after page turns between full screen refreshes. Though you can just set the Aura 2 to refresh more often to keep the quality up.

As the image next to the Voyage above shows, the Aura 2 has good text blackness and contrast.

They all use the same eInk Carta technology so the differences are minor. I find something like the Kobo Mini hard to read now as its screen is poor compared to Carta.

Are you sure you wouldn't rather have a larger screen at 6.8"? I prefer that size screen to a 6" screen.

If you use sans-serif fonts, you'll notice some, but not a lot, of difference, but the difference between 212 and 300 dpi is quite apparent on serif fonts. The difference between 265 and 300 isn't drastic.

Why would you want to risk another reader to break again in another pocket?

Obviously he needs small screens and big pockets.

Pockets increase the risk of damage by a lot.
