The best way to test an e-ink device is to give it to ones grandmother and see what happens. Grandmothers love e-ink. Grandmothers are to e-ink what John Gruber is to Apple.

Sony's new infrared based touch screen technology is quite awesome, provides touch on e-ink without taking away any of the Pearl e-ink's screens visibility. Also see my 11-minute video interview with a Sony specialist unveiling it and discussing technical details about it at IFA.

else you are what I call a serious and dedicated "fan" (not the word I'm looking for exactly) of ereaders

Hi - Thanks! I like this, a sort of different review..! So are you buying one for your grandma? I gave my 505 to my mum in law - she's about 80, and she loves it!

My mom and mom-in-law both have Sony Readers and they both enjoy using them and both are grandmothers.
