Difference in page #'s??

I came across something that looks odd this morning. I was looking up when "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" was published and among data listed was the page count.
607 (UK)
759 (US)
Does anyone know why it is there is such a difference in pages between the two? Is it a matter of page size or something else? Is it a common difference between UK and US publication of a book or something unique?

I suspect it's because the file is emailed to USA, who then set it using their own house font, size and leading, title pages etc (and probably run spell-check over it to convert spelling to US).

All it takes is slightly different margins, slightly different type size, and perhaps different layouts for chapter breaks (some always start new chapters on new pages, some don't) and Bob's your auntie (or relative of your choice, as Terry Pratchett would say).

Another difference is that the US version has a graphic at the start of every chapter, and the UK version doesn't. There are a lot of chapters, so this will push up the page count in the US edition.

I see. I hadn't thought of the difference in font sizes etc. and I didn't know that the UK version didn't have the graphic image at the start of each chapter. Interesting how such differences can make such a big change in book length.
