Unable to open a folder for SAMSUNG Android

User of Calibre for a long time, well versed in its use.
Linux 21.x with all presently available updates.
Calibre installed with no glitches.

Upon trying to connect my Samsung A8 tablet, I get the following dialog boxes;

Unable to open a folder for SAMSUNG Android
The name :1.168 was not provided by any .service files

and

Unable to mount SAMSUNG Android
Unable to open MTP device "002,007"

I cannot make heads or tails of this. If anyone has any advice to offer, I would be
very grateful.
