Sideloaded mode gets disabled on its own?

Hi all.

I really like to use my device in sideloaded mode, as I mostly import books from Calibre and I have no use for the home screen. So I've done
Code:
SideloadedMode=true
in the config file and all works as intended.

However, I've noticed that after a few days, my device will revert to non-sideloaded mode and I'll get the Home tab back.

Does anybody know what might be triggering this? I do have my Kobo account configured on the device, as well as my Pocket account (which I use a lot), and I'd prefer not to remove them unless absolutely needed. But I don't know if that has anything to do with it.

I also have NickelMenu installed in case that's relevant.

Appreciate any help on this!

Have you tried logging out of your Kobo account before you edit the configuration file? This will perform a partial factory reset of the device (you'll lose your reading progress but not the books themselves). It's possible your Kobo is confused about whether it's logged in or not. I've never had sideload mode spontaneously turn itself off before.

Attempting to connect to account if logged in before going to sideloaded mode instantly disables it.

Thanks both!

So what you're saying is that if I follow these steps:
  1. Enter my Kobo account in the device
  2. Enable sideloaded mode
  3. Turn on my device and perform any action that tries to connect to my Kobo account
The sideloaded mode will get disabled, right?

And in turn I should just remove my Kobo account before enabling sideloaded mode.

If so, just some questions::
  1. Will the Pocket integration continue to work even after my Kobo account has been removed?
  2. When you say reading progress is lost, does that also apply to books I added offline through Calibre? Or will I only lose the progress on books purchased from the Kobo store?
  3. I'm currently using calibre web, which means I edited the api_endpoint in the config file to point to the one from my calibre web server. Will that continue to work as well?
Thanks again!

It resets the database, so all info on side loaded is lost too.
