Firmware upgrade? Which launcher?
My Clara HD has the following firmware : 4.15.12920 from 27/05/2019.

Should I update it?
Or should I keep it?

My goal is to install a few patches and a few software (koreader).

And another question :
Should I use kfmon or nickel launcher?

it's entirely your choice. you could try the latest firmware and if you don't like it you can downgrade and go back to the version you are using now, i do it all the time.

it's a good thing being able to upgrade/downgrade the firmware relatively easily.

I did not know that.
So Kobo does want to block users.

The patches are firmware specific, each time You update the firmware You must reinstall them.

You can also use kfmon and NickelMenu together using the `kfmon` generator/action in NM.

Use the current 4.23.15548 firmware with the current NickelMenu and kfmon.

I don't understand how nickel menu and kfmon can be complementary though.
Can you explain?
My understanding is that a launcher is a software that displays itself as a book and then run a software when opened.
Could you explain please?

KFmon actions are triggered off an image. NickelMenu extends the Kobo menus to add options to trigger an action. No icons needed. This does require Nickel to be running.

Let's say I don't want Nickel, I just want koreader, how do I do that ?
I just run koreader from /etc/init.d/rcS, just before nickel ?
(because KSM is no more)
