wireless device/sync books

This is now showing up as one of two options (the other is /don't sync books) when you connect from an Android device.
What is the purpose of connect but /don't sync?

Both sync metadata. The "sync books" option causes calibre to compare the modified time of the format in calibre's library to the one for the book in CC. If the calibre format is newer then it is automatically sent to CC.

The reason for splitting them apart is that checking the modification time is very slow, making CC's connection much slower.

You can "turn off" either or both of these in CC Settings / Connecting to calibre.

Thanks. So for someone like me who only syncs periodicals it probably makes no difference.
