Windows Backup

Other than the obvious folders are there Calibre folders I need to add to my weekly backup? Windows says it won't back up temporary files, and I know Calibre uses them. I had problems in the past when I restored a computer from backup and the Calibre Libraries that were restored stopped recognizing some books.

Best way to to avoid problems with backup is to stop and close calibre first. Some files like metadata.db for the actual used library are locked by a running calibre.

Beside your library/libraries folders save the config directory to your backup and you will be fine.

I use the Export/import selection on the Library icon
It creates Spanned Zips in the destination folder of selected (from the list of KNOWN) Libraries

The Import function allows a choice when there are multiple libraries

I always make sure all my processes are closed because it takes so long to backup my computer (all night).

I do that as well, but then I am stuck with multiple Calibre Library's that require me to do clean installs per backup.

I already have three extra user accounts on my computer for this reason.

I have at this point in time 14 separate Calibre db zips containing between 3 and 10 libraries each

and for giggles I just counted all my open and available (but not necessarily added to Calibre) after counting across backups of three machines on a 4tb hard drive plus the libraries on my current machine (of course there are most likely multiples of the same library I have a whopping....Holy Moses- I just counted using a a spreadsheet to keep count, 251 libraries!

Roughly 3/4 of those are basically the same library with bits of metadata changes however, they are all there and Lord knows it will take a long time to work through them.

Anyhow, I just wanted to make sure that all the settings and Calibre Cache and temporary internet files were backed up so that books in libraries can still be accessed.

Thanks!
