Not sure if this should be in developers or here (Paperwhite question)
Sorry if there's any mods/admins around and this is not in the right place could it be moved please?
Anyway, I have a paperwhite (WIFI/3G model) on version 5.8.5.0.2 (3085210002) Is there anything I can do with it? (Jailbreak or whatever)? |

Let me ask you a question. The intended purpose of the device is to read books. What do you want to do with it?

Give it a oomph. I know there's some benefits of jailbreaking so anything like that

I'm moving this thread to the developers' forum, given that it's about jailbreaking.

I will paraphrase the first paragraph: The first thing to do is find out what the nickname of your device is, as used here. "Paperwhite" is too general (there are almost 80 models). Use the first four or six characters of your device's serial number and this table: https://wiki.mobileread.com/wiki/Kindle_Serial_Numbers I.E: Use six characters if the first is "G", otherwise use the first four. (After that, you can probably answer your own question, but post back here anyway. Note that if you take a week to reply, it will probably have updated to 5.8.8 and be too late.) Top blue bar, click "User CP" Somewhere in the option settings, it is set to 'batch' all notices once a week - change it to 'immediate'. You'll have to stumble around in those option settings, I don't recall which section has the e-mail options. = = = = First six characters of the serial number shown in the "Device Info" panel please, not the last three numbers. Somebody will figure out your device's nickname and post about it here. We really, really need that information (and so do you) - There are seven different jb images for the current touch screen models - you must know the nickname to choose the correct one. Did you go to the table that knc1 linked?
If your number is there then you can use the jailbreak. Next check your firmware to see which one is correct for you. Then go back to the where do I start thread and click on the correct jailbreak. READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS FIRST. Including spoilers. Make sure you understand them and can do each one before attempting the jailbreak. If you are unsure, do not attempt the jailbreak unless you just want an expensive paperweight. |

That model is a Kindle Voyage Wifi+3G as distributed in Europe.
We support it, its nickname is: KV If it is running any firmware version older than 5.8.8, then use: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=275877 If it has already updated to 5.8.8 - we do not have a jail break for that firmware version. |

Yes, it can be jailbreaked. Go find the software jailbreak thread. Here is the thread. https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sh...d.php?t=275877 READ ALL THE INSTRUCTIONS INCLUDING SPOILERS. Make sure you understand them all. Now do it quick before Amazon updates your Voyage. |
