Missing Titles on Booksonboard?

Just did a search for Brandon Sanderson on Booksonboard - nothing. Same for Robert Jordan. Virtually nothing for Terry Goodkind and John Scalzi. Is this a Tor thing due to their new non-DRM policy? Is it temporary or permanent? Anyone know anything about this?

Hi Glenn,

Thank you for shopping with BooksOnBoard. All book we currently have by this author can be found here: http://www.booksonboard.com/index.ph...n%2C%20Brandon

At this time we don't have any information as to when other titles will be made available, however I will forward your interest as feedback to our distributor. In the meantime please let me know if you have any other questions and I will be happy to assist.

Regards
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Strange since every other store I have looked at still carries them.

I don't know if it's tied into the same thing but I was looking for the new Kitty Norville book, "Kitty Steals the Show" by Carrie Vaughan (published by Macmillan) on BoB, and they didn't have it. I ended up having to purchase it from Amazon. (They do still have her other books, but not this one, and it was published on 31 July.)

Interesting however, to note on the Amazon page for the book:-

At the publisher's request, this title is being sold without Digital Rights Management software (DRM) applied.
I was a tad surprised... pleasantly so!

Mmmm - the plot thickens.

I emailed them again to ask 'who dropped who' and got this reply.

Hi Glenn,

Thank you for your reply. We are only able to offer titles our distributors source for us. If one of our distributors pulls a title for any reason, then it will disappear from the site automatically.

Please let me know if you have any other questions.

Regards,

Wonder who the distributor is and whether they are deliberately removing non-drm titles? (Conspiracy theory??)

I wouldn't worry about it yet, I suspect its just the DRM titles being pulled prior to the DRM free titles being added. Hopefully it should sort itself out soon.

Kobo had both DRM and DRM Free listed for awhile (which looked a bit iffy) but they have also pulled all the DRM'd titles now, BoB might just need a bit of a run up to add/remove books.

I have bought a few off BoB recently which weren't available (Resulting in a 404 on the download) so I know it takes them a while to update there database with books they can sell. On the plus side for them their customer service team (or person, always seems to be the same one) is fairly quick to respond and helpful.

All Tor books are now DRM Free There is a thread about it in the news forum. It's a great step for the publisher.

Mike is probably correct. It sounds like BoB is set to automatic and its employees are unaware of what happens.

Are you sure the non-drm titles were there to begin with? Perhaps the distributors are slow at getting them out?

FWIW some of the books I've gotten at BoB are from OverDrive, others from LightningSource.
