Bookeen Opus Amazon ebooks?

Hello me again,

I now understand that Amazon has encripted there ebooks so that you can only read them on the Kindal 3 unless you are good with computers & can download something to un do it all.

Ive just seen this statement in a review of the opus:

Opus is able to read PDF and ePUB files -- with or without DRM.

With or without DRM. So does this mean that you can read Amazon ebooks on the opus?

Sorry you must be getting fed up answering this question

Amazon's e-books are not ePub they are awz.(or mobi).

And indeed, kindle book can only be read on a kindle, unless you de-drm / convert.

No, because Amazon books are Mobipocket, not ePub or PDF.

What do you mean by Amazon ebooks?

Amazon does not sell PDFs or ePUBs
If the ebook you purchased is a .mobi file without DRM you can turn it into an .epub without any problem

Or on one of the Kindle reading apps - eg for PC, Apple iPhone/iPad, and Android.

I was speaking about e-reader. Not cell phone or tablets.

Nope, you can't read a kindle DRMed ebooks on a mobi reader (like the Opus of Gen3 with the correct firmware)

But it's very, very easy to buy a book with "Kindle for PC", remove the DRM with the "skindle" program, and then read it on an Opus or Gen3 (or convert it to ePub if you prefer the ePub firmware).

Yup, but i'll rather buy from people proposing format my reader can actually read

. And kindle for PC don't run properly with wine.

Skiping the conversion part is worth a few $$

Problem is, in some cases you can't do it. If you like cozy and you like Midnight Ink Publisher, you only can find its ebooks at Amazon, so....

no ePub, no buy.
If I really, really want it, I still have good old pbook.

Seriously, having to convert, spend some time editing so the book looks like something. No tanks !

Then, I've yet to find a book that I wanted and wasn't available somewhere else in ePub.
Then agency model is making a pain of my life as far as finding books is concerned... So i'm afraid that might change. But then, i'll still find enough to read until they come to their senses.

I don't care much about the agency prising itself. Fixed prising is something we are used to in France. My problem is that currently, only amazon and apple have some book, and that makes them out of access to me.
