Hiya!
Well- I've now been thrust into the world of eBooks! Aint it great what God-children can do? Time for me to brush up and learn all the stuff I have been missing out on. And so.. a Google-search brought me to you

I need to know all sort of things about a wide range of ebook readers since the kid has had at least 3 or 4 that I know of. And apparently.. the bad news is that each maker has their own way of doing things... it's like the Beta/VHS war on steroids...

So I will wade in full bore

The good news is, while each e-reader tends to have their own preferred format you can stay fairly neutral with ePub format books and then migrate them specifically to your personal device if you use the Calibre software (OpenSource - http://calibre-ebook.com/ ).

If you avoid getting DRM-encumbered books your life will be a lot easier (you can strip DRM out but it's more work).
