nk126: e Reader Novice

http://www.nk126.com/2010/07/e-reader-novice/

Quote:
I have friends who swear by their eReaders. They all commute via public transportation and/or travel a lot for work. Me, I do neither. So I still cling to my old-fashioned, tree-killing books and magazines. I love the idea of reducing paper consumption and waste & clutter in general, but I more love the practice of picking up a book, getting a glossy new magazine in my mailbox, smelling the binding of an old hardcover, and all of that other luddite romantica that self-styled Keepers of Words blather on about from time to time.
...

So no eReading for me save for a few quick forays into Time and iBooks as part of my iPad coverage for The Dog. Until now.
Best part: "eReading is weird."

This sounds like a young person. And it's funny, but I actually find young people as set in their ways as oldsters, if not moreso. It's as if they have a narrow comfort zone that they hesitate to venture out of.

Someone needs to tell this person there are more than two brands of ebook readers on the market.

Also, what's with the false dichotomy? Not just with this writer, but with so many? Neither ebooks nor pbooks are exclusive. You don't have to pick a faction. From where I sit, I can see three in-progress pbooks, my 505, and my DS Lite (well, it's inside its case, but I can see the case). Just because you read ebooks doesn't mean you have to throw all your pbooks away, and just because you like pbooks doesn't mean you can't like ebooks too.

"Just because you read ebooks doesn't mean you have to throw all your pbooks away"
