More Pixel Qi (possible product launches!)

To be honest, I'm not going to get my hopes up like I did at CES.

Pixel Qi is at Computex and although currently we only have more demos, and no real products, the second video with Mary Lou Jepson states that Computex will see a few announcements. Of course, I think there was the expectation that partners would announce at CES as well, and look how wonderfully that turned out.

Anyway, Pixel Qi is still cool stuff for those of us who are not offended by tablets, smartbooks, and netbooks and want daylight readability and some extra battery life. It's a bit of a compromise screen, sure, but I for one certainly hope it will actually see the light of day in real products (no pun intended).

Those are my thoughts so far as well. I doubt they'll have 1366x768 this year, if there's anything at all to be found.

I'm getting a little tired of mockups and prototypes and demonstrations too. If something doesn't get released (and sold) soon, what's left of my enthusiasm will be lost.

Keeping fingers crossed.

Yes, I agree about seeing only prototype after prototype of all these different ideas which make us salivate.

That said, I do still believe in Pixel Qi as a real thing arriving (hopefully!) soon. And Jepson rocks. =)

Is it just me or does that second video make the Pixel Qi screen look a bit disappointing outdoors?

Another video, shamelessly comparing to an iPad and an iPhone:
(bear in mind I'm not making or part of these videos, I'm just digging them up from time to time)
And Graham: It's possible that the glossiness of the screen is more of a problem on camera than it is in the real world. Most people seem pretty impressed with the outdoor viewability.

Also, a more news-reportish PR thing:

Oh and probably the nicest video from Charbax and Mary Lou Jepson so far. It explains a lot of the technology and process and power consumption. All sorts of good information.

A few days left of Computex...we'll see if anything real is actually announced, or if it'll continue being a unicorn.

I, really, cannot wait. And a (finally!) recent post on Notion Ink's blog has me hopeful we'll see the Adam, with Pixel Qi soon...

I saw that as well. He is implying that the good news is coming from Taiwan, so it is probably not the flash compatibility they've said they're waiting on. We'll I guess any good news is good, but I'd like to here something a bit more concrete on a delivery date.

I'd love to have that pixel qi screen on a laptop. The iPad is fine in the shade, but not good in full sun.

A quick heads-up on Engadget's coverage on Pixel Qi. Lots of pics and a nice video:
