Network unavailable

My nook is on 1.1.0. Since yesterday I am getting Network Unavailable error whenever I tried to search for new b&n content. Last year I had no problems in updating new b&n content but in 2010 things are different. Now my stuck with 1.1.0 and unable to update...Pls advice and also where can I get the latest fw from?

I had this exact same issue with connecting to the network. The only current fix is to either reenter your credit card information or change it to a Visa card. Also, if you do a google search you will be able to find others who have solved this issue the same way.

You can go to 1.1.1 (mind you, it has its own problems) by first downgrading to 1.0.0 (it will wipe your nook clean) and then upgrading (either manually or OTA).

http://nookdevs.com/Softroot, the links to the mirrored image of 1.0.0 is linked from the preparation instructions. The 1.1.1 can be downloaded from B&N.

@ BigHeadDog --- I am having the same issue. I just spoke to a very helpful Tech Service Rep. I was fine till the 1.1.1 update since then, I keep getting the Network Unavailable error. I am able to get "The Daily" and browse the store, but unable to buy books, or even download things in my archive.

My issue (although still to be resolved) is that my account was originally set with a 4 letter password. I think with 1.1.1 it starts looking for a 6 character password. The only way to get around this it to call BN and have them de link the nook and the account (this can not be done from the device as it keeps saying that the network is unavailable). Then register the nook again.

Downgrading did not help as the Nook is still registered on the BN compuers

Hope this helps... will tell you how it goes one they finish my deregistration.

I am based in Dubai. I was using it over the Xmas holidays with no issues, but once the 1.1.1 update took effect i started having the problems.

>>>Update: it did not work <<< I am going to ask them to deregister and I will try a new username... see of that works.
