PRS-600 Reader software won't download

I'm running XP SP3, plenty of memory/disk space so compatibility shouldn't be a problem. Have turned off antivirus/firewall etc. The software download starts, runs for about 3 hours (what is this stuff made of - concrete!) then fails with an error message. Has this happened to anyone else? Have left a message with Sony support but, hey, it's a bank holiday so not hopeful of getting to use my ebook until the new year.

I haven't been able to download the new Sony software and I have Vista on my pc. Sony has a reputation for great hardware and poor software unfortunately.

But the good news is you don't need the software to use your Sony reader. Try using Calibre instead which you will find right here on mobileread as it has a whole forum dedicated to it. You can use this to store your ebooks and transfer them to your Sony. However you can also transfer ebooks to your Sony reader just by doing a simple drag and drop process.
