Palm goes retail in California

Good old Palm, always 3 years too late. The kiosks should have been upgraded way earlier back when Palm was on top and then they could have (potentially) maintained/increased some of their mindshare and marketshare. Now they look desperate.
I can understand the stores in the San Jose mall and at the Palm HQ. I don't know the L.A. location, but it makes sense to have a presence in Southern California. Kinda puzzling is the 2 stores at SFO. Apparently, Palm feels that they'll be several business travellers who will have a need for a Treo while they're on the road (as if their company hadn't already bought them one) and Palm'll catch up on that lucrative business-traveller-impulse-buy. In the 2 different terminals, no less. I get the feeling that Palm is playing catch up and I'm not too sure that it's too little too late. |

It's probably just a matter of how much Palm needs to invest to open one store. If the store is profitable, I don't see why they shouldn't try to extent their market reach.
