unexplained slowdown on kobo menus

libra 2, calibre 8 , kobo utilities

after I updated metadata, my kobo has slowed down significantly . here's what I did from calibre;

-I added metadata from the internet using calibre's "download metadata from internet"

-I changed the title's of some books to avoid them being marked as RED (aka i changed the order of the words, "the murder on the nile" to "the nile, the murder on" . something like this

-I added a bunch of tags to all the books

-I used kobo utilities to create collections based on tags

-I plugged in my kobo , and use kobo touch plugin in the tootlbar to "update metadata on device"

I unplugged my kobo , and immediatly noticed that it was much slower when clicking on menus

does anyone have an idea as to what might've happened ?

Why would not simply tap the arrow at the end of the title box to update the title sort entry? That would copy "The Murder on the Nile" title to "Murder on the Nile, The" title sort moving the article to the end. This would clear up the mismatch error without error prone typing.

Not sure why you would want to do that. For my uses, when Kobo added search to the Kobo GUI, collections went the way of the dodo.

Have you tried running a check on your database from the Kobo Utilities Database menu? And then a vacuum to clear out deleted entries. Just how many collections did you create? Have you tried removing them since it appears your issues started when you created tag based collections.

yes that's what I did, I used the arrow for that. that's what I meant , my bad

you mean using the search box ? can you search tags from there on kobo ? I didn't know. but anyway, it's more comfortable to have collections already organized , to me at least. is that a bad idea for speed and optimisation ?

i created 18 collections i think , less than 20 for sure . that's not a lot is it

I did run a database check and the database is good , no issues

a vacuum to clear deleted entries ? could you help me do that ? i have no idea what that means

I haven't removed them yet , but I'll try , however my fear is that the metadata changes are the cause for the slowdown haha . how can i remove all collections ? using calibre, or from kobo instead ?

to add something, i just figured that i didnt use kobo touch or kobo utilities to update the metadata, but instead I used calibre's native "updated cached metadata"

can it be the source of my problems ?
