Possible alternative to Job Spy+ Notes Viewer

Opening the author or series notes have a small popup window.

Could it be possible to, instead of displaying a long-text column in the book details directly, to have a link that instead shows it in this window? It can also be edited that way.

Like the column icons this would add some of the functionality to Calibre itself and I would find it useful because I often use that notes viewer.

Are you implying you use JS->Notes Viewer to read Category notes (i.e. author, series, publisher, etc)? I wouldn't have thought that was possible.

In my book details, a Category (e.g. Author) that has a Note gets an icon (for me it's a white 'N' on a red circle), and its context menu has 'Edit note for <whatever>, viz:

Ah - I suspect you mean open a icon cloaked custom long text column from the Book details panel for editing, like you can in the Book list.

That's why I keep things that change a lot and/or have limited life span in Onenote. Example; I 'click' <a ref> label (usually the book title) in BD Checklist column and that book's copy editor checklist Onenote page pops.

The Browse Notes toolbar button gives access to a dialog that contains Edit buttons for each note, not sure if it suits your use case and/or if you're aware of it?

No. I use to read the long-text columns (e..g fanfic metadata). Wanted to use the window for that.

Something like that. Or the way it works for column notes where it opens uneditable but there's an edit button.
