USBNetlight not connecting

Hi

I have a Kindle (10th Generation) device that I have successfully jail broken using the guide at https://kindlemodding.org/.

I installed USBNetlite from Marek's repo and I've also copied the ssh file to the device.
I can see the device in MacOS networking tab like this
. It shows an dynamic IP address something like 192.168.22.154

The file in the kindle usbnet/etc/config location is the same as in the repo.

How do I connect to the kindle now? Should I use the IP address from the config (192.168.15.244) or the one shown in MacOS?

ssh root@ both the IPs don't work and I'm not sure what's the problem.

You need to manually set the IP for that network card to be in the same 192.168.15.xxx subnet. And then you use "ssh root@192.168.15.244" to connect.

And of course you need to enable USBNet using KUAL extension

Ah ok, I'll try this one out and see if it works.

P.S. Yes, I've enabled the USBNetlight using KUAL.

Exclamation

It did not work.

When I change the IP Address of the device, it shows me the error: "Another device on the network is using your computer's IP Address"

The solution was in this thread.

1. I set the IP Address manually to 192.168.15.201 in the macOS settings.
2. I did ssh 192.168.15.244.
3. I entered the password from the /etc/config file

It then connected to the Kindle and logged me in as a root user.

Your solution from the other thread is the same thing I told you to do. I didn't tell you to go set the computer side of USB cable to 192.168.15.244 IP address, I said use an address that's in the same subnet as 192.168.15.244, so anything between 192.168.15.2 to 192.168.15.254 (excluding .244) would have worked the same. And then connect to 192.168.15.244 which is the IP on the other end of USB cable

Thumbs up

Yes, thanks for explaining. Your answer definitely helped. I've modded tons of devices and ROMs but surprisingly connecting through USBNet wasn't something I've seen before.

My comment was for future travelers stumbling upon this problem and need more direct instructions as well as documentation for me.
