Transfer all data from Pocketbook Touch HD to Pocketbook Verse Pro
As my Pocketbook Touch HD is having more and more problems with battery life, I now have a Pocketbook Verse Pro on order.
Is there a way to transfer all the books AND the other data (% read, ..etc) from the old device to the new one? I know I can send all the books from Calibre to the new device, but I also like to see on my new device which books I have already read and how much of some books I have read... Many Thanks for any information. |

There's a Calibre plug-in which uses Calibre columns to organize your PB device into collections and -- apparently -- the % completed for each book. It's not nearly as good as the similar Kobo plug-in but it works; at least for organizing books (from which you can add a 'Finished' tag to solve your problem). I haven't been able to get the % read function to work but I haven't spent much time on it so that's probably just user-error.
IAE, Calibre is the solution. Calibre, btw, is ALWAYS the solution. You can also use Calibre to generate a catalog of your library, with sections for authors, titles, collections & metadata book jacket descriptions. So you can see what books you've finished & which are available. Especially for large libraries, though, browsing the catalog and reading descriptions is a lot like wandering around a bookstore (remember brick & mortar bookstores in places they called "malls"??) Bygones. |

Shame the Touch HD is stuck at firmware 5.x (the Verse is 6.x). Provided the firmwares are equal, you could try(!) to copy all the book files, and then both databases (explorer.db + books.db).
Even with matching firmwares this is not guaranteed to work, if the databases somehow differ between devices. Might even brick it... I'd at least clear the newer device to be safe. Right now it will fail as the database formats differ between firmwares 5 and 6, so don't try it! In theory, a HD3 could be used as an in-between, brought down to 5.19.656 to match the Touch, and then upgraded to 6.8.2102 - the HD3 and Verse firmware version don't equate exactly however there. PB developers ought to have update scripts for databases, but I doubt they'll spend time on this ![]() BTW, there's an unreleased GUI tool for my AVATeR, that transfers read states+percentages between two devices. It's unpublished as I felt it could break and cause more trouble than it was worth. Might brush it off, in time. |
