Can't sign into kobo ereader on Kobo Libra Color

I have factory reset multiple times, but when I try to sign into my kobo account I get "Currently unavailable in your region. Accounts and Store are not yet available in your region". I'm in USA - anyone know how to fix this?

Are you using a VPN?

I wouldn't even care honestly about signing in, if I could just remove the fake books they put on the device. Is there a way to remove the books I don't own out of series and authors? To clarify, My Books have no entries (cause I haven't added any), buy in series and authors, I have a bunch of entries that just say there are no items. One user on this forum stated that he had to sign in in order to remove those entries... But if there is another way that would be great.

You might want to try seeing what geolocation says for your location. Lately I've been using https://tools.keycdn.com/geo but not certain how it would work for you.

Another question is if you are trying to use sideloaded mode?

Thanks for the site. I went there and my location is correct: Country United States (US)
Continent North America (NA).

I am trying to side load books. Prior to the factory reset, I was able to side load, but those fake entries remained. I read this so tried signing into my account which leads me to this error.

But really, I couldn't care less about signing in if I could remove those entries. It's probably something silly to be hung up on, but it does bother me to have books that aren't even on the device showing.

So you factory reset, manually upgraded your firmware to the latest, etc.? Did you add SideloadedMode=true before you tried logging in?

I removed the authors once by editing the database using some SQL commands. I would imagine the same thing can be done for series. Sorry, but I don't recall what the SQL commands were.

I do recall that it started with DELETE FROM ...

Well funny thing is is that was already set to true without me changing it.

Yes, that was me. But see also post no. 10 in this thread. Another user found an alternative (but laborious-looking) method.

The site you linked is giving me incorrect Geolocation. It says I'm father away then I should be. Try this site and see what result you get. This one is correct,

That's what I've done as well, it works like a charm

I've seen SQL queries on this forum, the posts are from 2012 but I can confirm that the database structure still looks the same as it did back then and the queries still work fine.

OP don't forget to backup the sqlite file either way in case something goes wrong.

And did you try removing it and restarting your Kobo? It does sound as if you did not do a true factory reset but rather the factory reset from the Setting => Device information menu. A true factory reset would require either the factory reset from the Developer option menu or a manual factory reset.

For me, the https://tools.keycdn.com/geo is off by ~4.0km while the geolocation.com site is off by ~17.7km. Neither is that bad for a system that is not designed to give exact results. Now if I use GPS, I get an error of ~9 metres. Much better than my oldest GPS unit which used to say my apartment was drifting at a couple of knots. I ran across items on several sites about the accuracy of IP geolocation and they pretty much all said the same thing:
