Here are the patches from 4.38.23038 updated to mostly work with 4.38.23171. Most patches do apply. If you have a problem with anyone the patches, please post which one(s).

kobopatch.yaml is the one edited by DSNB to group together the relevant patches where you apply this one or that one but not both.

I get error (/out/log.txt)
"open kobo-update-4.38.23171.zip: The system cannot find the file specified."
but the zip file is in the src folder and the name is 100% correct.

Put the firmware file in the directory outside of src.

that they overwrote the src/ when they copy/pasted the filename into the in: line.

The differences I have listed are:

Improve awareness and access of Parental Controls
Introduced parental control view upon sign in (for France/Italy geo's + in market devices only)
Updated parental control copy
