Hi everybody,
New in this forum, I already use Calibre with our Kindles Paperwhite & Oasis in the family without any issue. A new Kobo Elipsa 2E is coming in the house, but I am still stuck to Calibre 6.11 on my old iMac => Therefore I do not have possibility to update to v7.23 or at least 6.16 where Elipsa 2E was implemented in Calibre update => How can I then proceed in Calibre to synchronize & send books to the kobo ? Will it recognize it ? (I have already installed Kobo Touch Extended, that worked well for a friend of mine's kobo Libra) Thanks for your help |

Why can't you update to calibre 6.16?

Welcome to MobileRead!
Calibre 6.11 won't recognize your Elipsa, and you won't be able to send books directly from Calibre. However, you can use the Save to Disk feature to save the books you want to transfer elsewhere on your computer drive, and you can drag & drop them from there to your Elipsa. You'll lose the automatic metadata, series and collections management, but you'll be able to read the books. |

Isn't it possible to set calibre use Elipsa 1 parameters somewhere in output parameters ? (the screen is in my understanding the same between Elipsa 1 & 2E) Last edited by FraKraps; 12-26-2024 at 01:21 PM. |

That wouldn't change anything. The output parameters have nothing to do with Calibre recognizing a device, they're for conversion (I have mine set to Tablet, to prevent any unwanted changes to the layout).

Another option is to connect your Elipsa as a folder, not a device (Connect/share -> Connect to folder).

You can consider using open core legacy patcher to upgrade to macOS 12 Monterey for your 2012 iMac. And maybe install macOS on an external SSD to speed things up if your iMac has an hdd or Fusion Drive that is likely dying/slow.

Thanks for your help
Do not have a clue on how to install "open core legacy patcher to upgrade to macOS 12 Monterey" My Fusion Drive is still ok (had to format the drive one time for cluster issue, but now it is all right) Am not expecting to change my Mac right now since it works pretty fine for what I do (much better than a PC after 12 years !) I may have another proposal : Please confirm me if I'm wrong, but I learned someday that it was possible to share Calibre library on a personal network. If possible, then I could use the Macbook from my son, or my PC, to access to calibre library and send books to the elipsa no ? I'll check this opportunity but if you know how to proceed, you are welcome ![]() |
